Clarins Huile Tonic

Since I haven’t had the chance to try any products with the baby yet, I thought I would mention one product I have used in the pregnancy that I love.  A friend recommended Clarins Huile Tonic early on.  It is 100% plant olis, and is supposed to help prevent stretch marks.  There is no science behind the claim of helping prevent stretch marks, and I didn’t feel like running an experiment on my body by covering only half of my stomach to see if it works better than nothing. So far, I don’t have any stretch marks, but who knows if that’s the oil, luck, diet, genes or something else.

Whether it works or not, it has been really nice to use.  It is a lovely oil with a wonderful scent.  I have been using it most evenings, and it has become and aromatherapy ritual.  It gets absorbed into my skin pretty well, and feels nice in the morning. They recommend using it in the morning and rinsing off with cold water, but I never did it that way since I shower at night, and the whole morning thing just didn’t fit into my schedule.

It is on the pricey side for my tastes (a little over 40 dollars or euros), and I am on my third bottle at 37 weeks.  I won’t finish it before she comes, so it is a little over $120 for the entire pregnancy.  It was worth it for me, and I will probably keep using it afterwords as my skin recovers from the stretch.

I didn’t get stretch marks with Bubba Joe until after he was born … I’ll definately be checking back for an update after your little one arrives!
