Facebook still banning breastfeeding photos

Just a few weeks after creating our Mamas Worldwide Facebook page, I hear that Facebook is still banning breastfeeding photos as obscene, and doing it rather often too!  I find it to be a huge double standard that topless women, fully exposing their breasts, are shown in ads on Facebook, but breastfeeding pics are too obscene.

I have a lot more to say, but PhD in Parenting has already said it all, so I’ll just link to her great post Breaking it down for Facebook.

The Facebook group Hey, Facebook, Breastfeeding is not Obscene, now has over 116,000 members.  Please join up and invite your friends to join, sure, even that surly single guy friend, he can have an opinion on this too!  Before it ran off the bottom of my news feed, I had 13 new sign ups from the invitation I sent to all of my friends, I’m guessing I probably got to at least 20.  And if I Dont care How Comfortable Crocs Are, You Look Like A Dumbass can get 1.2 million members, we ought to be able to get a better showing than just 100,000.

Add another to the ranks. I just quietly agreed when I first saw the group come across my news feed.

Maybe the babywearers can post pics of themselves with babies in their slings, pouches, etc doing the stealth-nursing thing. :)
