Another baby carrier

I know I’ve mentioned before how much I love my baby carrier by Hopediz, but for the past two weeks, I’ve upgraded, so to speak.  As my girl hit about 3.5 months, she wanted to see more while she was being carried, and her weight was increasing and putting a bit of strain on my back.  Up until then, the cloth carrier was great.

I had heard about the Ergobaby carrier, and when I saw a couple using it up in Muenster over the holidays, I was sold.  It works like a camping back pack in that the weight is mostly carried on the hips.  he clips also make it easy to adjust to your size.  The carrier comes with an instructional DVD, which is good for those of us who just refuse to read instruction manuals.  Of course, my girl still cries when I put her in the carrier as opposed to the calm happy babies used in the DVDs, but that’s another story. There are a couple of pockets in the carrier as well that allow you to store keys, wallet, etc. I have a burp cloth in a pocket as well. The down side is the price. It runs about 100 Euros, which is on the pricey side of carriers. I think it is totally worth it because it carries the weight so well, and will allow me to carry her as she keeps growing.

While shopping!I wanted to post something about it today because one if it’s best uses saved me today.  My husband and I were out shopping in town, and the baby started crying loudly in the carrier.  She was signaling that she was hungry, but we were in a department store at the time.  My husband continued picking up a few groceries while I looked for a place to sit and nurse.  Unfortunately, all of the seats I found were occupied.  I suddenly remembered that one of the great features of the Ergo is that you can breast feed while carrying the baby!  I loosened the straps so she slid down to boob-level and ta-da!

When my husband tracked me down he said, “wow!  That is the most discreet breast feeding I’ve ever seen.”  I had him take a photo.  I continued to shop while she nursed because, well, I could. Awesome.

That’s great! We also have used our mai tai to nurse as I was walking through DC, but they are similar carries to the Ergo. :)

I have Ergo envy. We had a Bjorn, which was OK for a while, but I know now that the Ergo lasts for much longer and would have been great for traveling. Very wise purchase.
