About the Authors
Blythe recently returned to the Pacific Northwest after living for three years in Bavaria. Her son was born in Germany in 2007, and promptly visited eight different countries in the first 18 months of his life. When she is not sitting in an airport or scanning her Google Reader, Blythe likes to read books about food, watch reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and practice yoga. She is trying to teach her son (and her husband, though that’s an uphill battle) to appreciate 1980’s pop music. She blogs at www.theblythespirit.com.
Christina lives in a small Bavarian village outside of Regensburg, Germany, with her husband, their two sons Oliver and Leo, and a Bernese Mountain Dog named Charlie. She was born in California, grew up in the Virginia suburbs of D.C., and has lived in Germany since 2002. Prior to becoming a full-time mom, Christina was a statistician working on clinical trials and genetic longevity studies. She also blogs at her personal site, AmiExpat.com.
Janda lives with her husband, her daughter and her son outside the pretty city of Regensburg, Germany, since the summer of 2008. Janda was born in South Africa and then moved with her husband to the UK. She is a stay at home mum who likes getting together with the girls for lunch and trying different crafts. Janda trained as a Fashion Designer and practiced as a dressmaker for over 10 years. She still enjoys making the odd garment, but lately there is quite a lot of “amendments”, alterations and repairs to be done.
Maria and her family (husband and son) currently call the Washington DC area home. Her husband travels the world as a professional athlete, which means learning a new country each year. Maria was born and grew up in Paynesville, Minnesota before moving to Tulsa to attend college. She works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as an economist. Tammy is an American and has been living on and off in Germany with her German husband since Halloween 2004. She is an astronomer and yoga teacher by training though she has yet to get a ‘real’ job doing either! She has so far refused to fully give up either endeavor and identifies herself with either one of the professions depending on mood. She is a mom to Clair and is currently expecting. Tammy was born in Phoenix, AZ, but considers herself a California girl since having lived in Irvine for grad school. She blogs about lots of random, unrelated things on her personal blog at Coffee from a Reusable Porcelain Mug.
